Features Stock · Expiry dates

Every batch has its date. The oldest is sold first.

A March purchase and a June purchase of the same item are kept side by side, each with its own expiry date. The POS takes from the batch that expires first without anyone choosing, and you are warned before anything expires.

How it works

What you do, and what Meku does with it.

  1. You

Settings → What you sell: turn on Expiry dates. A pharmacy, supermarket or food shop has it on from sign-up.

    Meku

Asks for an expiry date whenever stock arrives.

  2. You

When you add a product or record a purchase, add the batch's expiry date.

    Meku

Keeps each purchase as its own batch. Two purchases of the same item are two batches with two dates.

  3. You

    Nothing.

    Meku

Sells the oldest first. Nobody chooses. The sale takes from the batch that expires first.

  4. You

    Inventory → Stock → Expiring.

    Meku

Shows what is about to expire, and tells you in Inbox before it expires, while it can still be sold, returned or moved.

What's included
  • Expiry date for each batch
  • Oldest sold first
  • Expiring filter on the stock page
  • Expiry warnings in Inbox
  • Expired stock written off with a reason

Questions

What if I do not follow expiry dates?

Leave the switch off. Products have one stock number, and nothing about dates appears anywhere.

Does a customer see the expiry date?

No. It is for you. The receipt shows the product, not the batch.
