Data Deletion Policy
Effective May 10, 2026 · KELVIN WINFORD MOSHY
KELVIN WINFORD MOSHY respects your right to control your personal and business data. This Data Deletion Policy explains how to request the deletion of your data, what will be deleted, what we are required to retain, and how long the process takes.
1. Your Right to Deletion
You have the right to request deletion of your personal data and business account from the Meku Business Service at any time. This right applies whether you access Meku via the Android app, the web application at mekubusiness.co.tz, or both.
2. How to Request Deletion
You may submit a data deletion request through any of the following methods:
Option A — In-app
Go to Settings → Support → Delete My Account within the Meku Business app or web portal. You will be asked to confirm the deletion with your account password.
Option B — Email
Send an email to support@meku.co.tz with the subject line “Account Deletion Request”. Include the email address and phone number associated with your account. We will verify your identity before proceeding.
We will acknowledge your request within 3 business days and complete the deletion within 30 days of verification.
3. What Will Be Deleted
Upon a confirmed deletion request, we will permanently delete:
- Your account profile (name, email address, phone number)
- Your business information (business name, settings, preferences)
- All products, categories, and inventory records
- All purchase orders and supplier records
- All expense records and expense categories
- All customer contacts and debt records
- All staff accounts linked to your tenant
- Your storefront configuration and customisation settings
- Uploaded images and documents stored in our CDN (s3.meku.co.tz)
- Analytics and report data associated with your account
- Session tokens, refresh tokens, and authentication credentials
4. What We Are Required to Retain
Certain records may be retained even after an account deletion request, where required by Tanzanian law or legitimate business necessity:
- Financial transaction records — sales receipts, payment confirmations, subscription invoices, and payout records may be retained for up to 7 years to comply with Tanzanian tax and financial reporting obligations. These records are anonymised to the extent possible, retaining only the financial amounts and dates rather than personal identifiers.
- Audit logs — system security and audit logs may be retained for up to 12 months to investigate potential fraud or security incidents.
- Dispute records — if there is a pending billing dispute, chargeback, or legal matter involving your account, we may retain relevant records until the matter is resolved.
Retained records are stored securely, are not used for any commercial purpose, and are deleted as soon as the retention period expires or the legal obligation is satisfied.
5. Consequences of Deletion
Deletion of your account is permanent and irreversible. Once your data is deleted:
- You will lose access to all your business records, transaction history, and analytics
- Any active online storefront listings will be removed from the Meku marketplace
- Pending deliveries or orders will need to be resolved before deletion can be completed
- Your subscription will be cancelled with no pro-rata refund for the unused portion of the billing period
We strongly recommend exporting your data before submitting a deletion request. You can export your transaction history and product catalogue from Settings → Export Data.
6. Third-Party Data
Deletion of your Meku account does not automatically remove data held by third-party providers we use (such as Selcom for payment processing). You may need to contact those providers separately to request deletion of data they hold about you. Please refer to our Privacy Policy for a list of third-party processors.
