How to list your shop on the Meku marketplace
Show your shop to customers who do not know you yet: the marketplace listing, the call from our team, and the reviews from customers who really bought.
29 May 2026
Your regular customers already know where to find you. The marketplace at meku.co.tz shows your shop to the much larger group of customers who do not know you yet. Joining is free on every plan, but each shop is checked once, so that the marketplace stays good for both customers and shops.
What you need before you start
- A logo and a banner for your shop (a square logo and a wide banner)
- One or two paragraphs about what you sell and why someone should buy from you
- A pickup address, and a phone number where we can reach you
- Your products added, with stock
Step 1: Ask to be listed
Go to Settings → Marketplace and tap Ask to be listed. Your shop is not visible on the marketplace until a person at Meku has called you, explained what is expected, and approved your shop.
Waiting is normal. You can use everything else in Meku while you wait.
Step 2: Prepare your shop profile
Fill in three things:
- Logo: shown in a circle next to your name across the marketplace. Use the same logo you use everywhere else.
- Banner: a wide picture shown at the top of your shop’s page. Keep important details away from the bottom left corner, because your logo and name are shown there.
- Description: what makes your shop worth visiting. Be specific. Do not write “good prices on phone accessories”. Write “Genuine iPhone cases and screens, official Samsung accessories, delivery within 24 hours in Dar es Salaam.”
Save when you are happy with it. This is what a customer sees when deciding whether to open your shop.
Step 3: Add an announcement (optional)
An announcement is a short message at the top of your shop, such as a seasonal sale, a new product, or an apology for a late delivery. Most owners leave it empty and use it only for such moments.
Step 4: Wait for our call
Within one or two days after you ask, a person from Meku support calls the phone number on your account. The call covers:
- What you sell, and how you deliver (your own rider, a courier, or the customer collects)
- Your opening hours, and how fast you answer customers
- The terms of use and how customers are protected
The call takes 10 to 15 minutes. When we are sure your shop is ready, we approve it, and your shop appears on the marketplace immediately. If it is not approved, we send you an email with the reason and what to fix, and you can ask again.
Tip: After you ask to be listed, keep the phone with the number on your Meku account switched on during business hours. If you miss our call, your listing is delayed by one or two more days.
Step 5: Reply to reviews
When you are listed and customers start to order, they can review orders that were delivered. Only customers who really bought can leave a review. Nobody can review a product they did not buy. You can reply to reviews from the product’s page, and Meku shows you how many reviews have no reply yet.
A short, personal reply to a 4-star review often brings a 5-star review next time. An angry reply to a 2-star review almost always makes things worse. Accept the problem, fix it, and continue.
Common questions
Why does Meku check shops by hand? Because the good name of the marketplace depends on every shop on it. One shop that does not answer customers spoils the experience for the next twenty. The 15-minute call has improved the marketplace more than any automatic check could.
Do I have to be on the marketplace?
No. You can switch off your listing under Settings → Marketplace at any time. Only your shop on meku.co.tz is hidden. Everything else in Meku works as before.
What does Meku take from a marketplace sale? A service fee is added to the customer’s total, and you receive the full price of your products. The customer sees the fee as a separate line at checkout, and it does not come out of your money. Delivery fees go to the delivery company. Meku does not keep those either.
